Would you like to bring some personality and playfulness to your bedroom interior? This time, our creative director Jana Hučíková will discuss combining stripes, Oxford and classic styles, or bolder color shades.

All our collections are designed to be color-coordinated and combinable. We explained the basics of the Mix & Match system in the easy coordination article and it's also worth checking out our tips on combining materials, sizes, and the number of pillows.

But how to take Mix & Match even further? "You can never go wrong with a white T-shirt and jeans," says Lejaan's creative director Jana Hučíková. "But adding a delicate necklace, a brooch, a hair scarf, and neon pumps, that's the next level."

OXFORD AND CLASSIC TOGETHER

"If I choose a consistent style, the bed will always look compact, clean, and unified. But that doesn't mean that classic and Oxford styles can't be combined," Jana states.

So how do you alternate classic pillowcases with those that have a decorative border? "The basic rule I stick to usually mimics the different sizes of pillows on the bed: Large, medium, and small – classic, Oxford, classic," Jana recommends.

"I usually choose the largest pillow in this trio without a flange. Otherwise, there would be a large disproportion between the largest and the medium. This way, the flange adds a decorative element without being dominant."

COLOURED SHEETS

Lejaan's sheet selection has recently expanded to eight colors. But when should you opt for a more playful shade, and when is it better to stick to classic white? "I choose colored sheets when I want to add a splash of color to a monochrome interior or if the color already appears in the interior, connecting it with the bed," Jana advises.

A colored sheet is another way to liven up the bed and interior when you don't want different colored pillows. "I love that moment when you pull back, for example, a white duvet, and a color appears underneath," she adds.

A white sheet is versatile. Reach for it whenever you want to maintain an elegant style, where the bed is either all white or where there's a psychological need to keep the classic white sheet style complemented by colorful bedding.

BOLD VS. SUBTLE COMBINATIONS

Mix & Match can easily become an expression of your personal style, interior intention, or character.

"A combination of pink, white, and beige will work if you lean towards subtle elegance. The shades match because they are in warm tones, and sophisticated materials like wood and marble are found in the interior," Jana explains with an example.

Mix & Match can simply highlight, for example, the softness of your personality

Conversely, a collection where we used a dark color as the base is simple but very distinctive and opinionated. If colors that create contrast are combined, the result will appear striking and bold.

STRIPE ON STRIPE COMBINATION

"I've always admired it when someone could coordinate two different patterns in clothing. This is the same principle, but it requires a little bit of courage," Jana urges.

By combining different stripes, you achieve playfulness in the interior. Seemingly disparate elements work surprisingly well together and draw attention to themselves.
