How to Properly Care for Lejaan Bed Linen

Here at Lejaan, each of our products is made with utmost care. We choose the best materials, the perfect fabric blends and always put forward timeless designs to ensure our products last and serve you well. You too can help boost their longevity by providing our bed linen and bedsheets with the care that they deserve.

To ensure fabrics last and look like new, treat them with love and care. Here’s a reminder of our recommended care instructions. Don’t worry, it’s no rocket science.

Caring for TENCEL™ Lyocell Blend Fabrics

Before dressing your bed in brand new TENCEL™ Lyocell bedding, wash at least once on our recommended wash cycle. This will soften the fabric and prepare it luxuriously for your first night together.

To help maintain the fabric’s shade and special properties, wash inside out. For a general wash, we recommend using a 40°C program, however for a more intense wash, you can set a 60°C cycle.

Avoid the use of optical brighteners on TENCEL™ Lyocell. Also, do not use fabric softeners. TENCEL™ Lyocell is already a pretty soft fabric, so no chemical softeners are required. Fabric softeners coat threads with a residue that can actually reduce the fabric’s natural breathability and moisture-wicking properties.

TENCEL™ Lyocell bedding can be tumble dried. Turn bedding inside out and tumble dry on a gentle, low heat setting. If you have any doubts, just check the care label.

Organic Cotton and its Maxim Potential

The magic of organic cotton lies mainly in its ecologically responsible production without the use of harmful pesticides or chemical substances.

To help maintain the skin-friendly and eco-friendly properties of organic cotton, follow these care guide tips.

To help increase the longevity of organic cotton bedding, we recommend washing at 40°C. For heavily soiled bedding, you can wash at up to 60°C. Always use the correct washing detergent dose and wash bedding inside out. Organic cotton bedding can be tumble dried.

Cotton and Cotton/Polyester-Blend Bedding

Both our traditional cotton and our cotton & polyester bedding can be washed at 60°C. One of the top benefits of both these fabrics is that they’re exceptionally strong and durable thanks to their thread structure. However, for a general re-fresh, a 40°C cycle is all these need. For best results, turn bedding inside out before placing into the washing machine. Both our cotton and our cotton & polyester bedding can be tumble dried.

Don’t Forget the Duvets and Pillows

It’s best to wash our Comfort or Classic duvets and pillows at 60°C. In both cases, you only need to use ⅓ of a regular gel washing detergent dose.

Wash all duvets and pillows regularly every 6-12 months. Do not dry clean and avoid the use of bleach or brighteners. Do not iron. Fluff up after washing and ideally once a month. Loosening lumps lets fibres breathe and make recovers plush and lofty features.

Leave your bed unmade for a while every morning. Duvets and pillows also need to breathe and let accumulated moisture evaporate. And, putting them outside to air from time to time, will do them much good.

We have dedicated a separate article to our down comforters and pillows from the Down Comfort line and their care.

Let’s End with a Few General Tips

As with clothing, wash white, coloured and dark bedding separately. We recommend avoiding the use of fabric softeners in general for one simple reason: Softeners create a hydrophobic barrier that repels water and this can lead to the loss of the bedding’s beneficial properties.

When line drying outside, dry inside out and keep out of direct sunlight. This will stop colours from fading and blotching. If you plan to iron our bedding, please read our tips on ironing article before you do so.

Wash and change your bedding, ideally, every fortnight. Washing bedding naturally strengthens the fibers and thread structure of fabric, so this helps to prevent pilling.

When purchasing a complete bed linen set, consider buying some extra pillowcases. Pillowcases get dirty more quickly from facial oils, sweat and make-up residue. For top hygiene results, strip and wash pillowcases more often.
