Is reading in bed one of your favorite activities too? Here at Lejaan, it definitely is. And because this ritual requires more than just a comfortable bed, we've teamed up with the curated bookstore Book Therapy. Together, we present books inspired by Lejaan's collections that definitely shouldn't be missing from your library.
On this occasion, we interviewed Petra Caudr, founder and owner of Book Therapy. We found out what she loved to read as a child, which book she's planning to read next, why Book Therapy and this collaboration came about, and how she likes our Prague showroom.
You are the founder and owner of the curated bookstore Book Therapy. Has your love for books been with you since childhood, or did you discover it later in life?
Definitely since childhood. I read a lot from a young age; I learned quickly. In our family, we were always surrounded by books. My grandfather read a lot of detective stories and French books, and my mother and aunt continued that tradition. I remember loving visits to libraries even at a very young age.
Do you remember the first book you fell in love with?
That would be The Adventures of Dunno by Nikolay Nikolayevich Nosov. Such massive tomes. I think it was even a trilogy. Those were the first books I truly read by myself.

Lejaan x Book Therapy: Tobias’ Dream
What led you to found Book Therapy?
It was a combination of several factors. The story is that we traveled a lot, and on every trip, our first steps led us to galleries or concept stores. These are places I still really love. They are an endless source of inspiration for me. So we thought it would be nice to open something similar in Prague. If we liked it, others must like it too. (laughs) So that was the foundation. Initially, our vision was to have more products, but due to space constraints, we limited it (only) to books. Now we primarily focus on coffee table books, photography books, travel, architecture, interior design... That's my passion. Book Therapy is simply a mix of what I truly love myself.
And which books do you like the most of all?
I’ve completely fallen for the French family publishing house Assouline. They themselves say they are travel books, but in format, they are classic coffee table books. They have truly captivating photographs. When you leaf through these books, you are truly transported to specific places. They can incredibly capture the genius loci. So anything from them. Greek islands, Sicily, Lake Como...
So primarily travel books?
Yes. Simply where travel, architecture, design, food combine – that's my thing.
What about fiction? Novels? Are you not into those?
I confess, I don't really have time for that type of book. Honestly, I've set aside fiction and leave it mostly to my colleagues in the shop, who are definitely more knowledgeable about it than I am.
Which book are you currently reading, or which one are you planning to read?
Since the Summer Olympics in Paris are approaching, a lot of books dedicated to France are coming out. Well, I got myself an interior design one. It's called The New French Look: Interiors with a Contemporary Edge by Lauren Li. I'm really looking forward to that one! Otherwise, I have many favorite magazines like Monocle or Konfekt. These are my staples that I try to keep up with.
What do you think Lejaan and Book Therapy have in common?
Definitely an emphasis on quality, detail, and a customer-centric approach. Both brands truly pamper their customers.

Lejaan x Book Therapy: Quiet Jungle
Why do Lejaan and Book Therapy make sense together for you?
This whole collaboration was my idea because I've always really liked Lejaan. I've been following its story for a long time. And our connection just felt incredibly natural to me. The bed is a symbol of relaxation for me, a place for reading and rest. I wish I had more time to indulge in this ritual every evening.
Do you have Lejaan bedding at home?
I do. And I've completely fallen for it! It's fantastic, truly. I'm often skeptical of advertising slogans and promises, but the difference compared to other brands is truly enormous. So I cleared everything out, and we only sleep in Lejaan now. We currently have Cosy Sunday from you, I just bought Never Too Late, and I have Quiet Jungle in my cart. I didn't believe what a difference it could make, but it's amazing. I even got my mother-in-law hooked! (laughs) She now has Father's Playground and she's thrilled too.
We conducted the interview in our Prague showroom. How did you like it here?
Beautiful. A complete oasis of calm in otherwise bustling Nusle. As soon as we finish, I have to try everything out here. (laughs) Especially, I want to look at the towels and bathroom items.
